Reasons to Spay or Neuter Your Pet
Whether you’ve recently adopted a pet or you’re considering it, one of the most important health decisions you’ll make is to spay or neuter your cat or dog. Spaying—removing the ovaries and uterus of a female pet—is a veterinary procedure that requires minimal hospitalization and offers lifelong health benefits. Neutering—removing the testicles of your male dog or cat—will vastly improve your pet’s behavior and keep him close to home.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Prattville/Autauga Humane Society. The work our organization accomplishes would not be possible without generous contributions of our volunteers. We offer a variety of ways that you can help the animals.
Volunteers are always needed to help with adoptions, foster care, cleaning, grooming and socializing the shelter animals. In addition, positions are also available in fundraising, education, and special events.

Our shelter has an urgent need for bleach and laundry detergent. We use these two items everyday while cleaning to keep the pets healthy. Two washers and dryers are running all day, everyday, to keep up with the towels and blankets used for bedding and cleaning. While shopping for your family, please pick up an extra bottle of bleach or box of detergent for the shelter. You can drop off your donations at our shelter on Reuben Road. If you have a large quantity to donate and need it to be picked up, please call 334-358-2882 and we will make arrangements to pick up your donations.
Monetary donations are always welcome!

While the Prattville/Autauga Humane Society shelter staff may be small in size, it has a big heart for the animals. The staff works daily to meet the animal’s needs such as cleaning, feeding, watering, exercising and socialization. The staff is works to help reunite lost pets to their rightful owners, to find “forever homes” for adoptable animals and meet the daily needs of the animals in their care. They hold a paw in their hand every day.
We invite you to visit our facility located at 1009 Reuben Road in Prattville. Our shelter is open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Our shelter is closed to the public on Sunday.
